Frequently Asked Questions

What is the success rate of therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is a building block structured therapy. For this reason success rate is different for everyone. It involves client participation, and dedication so the success of therapy will depend on your level of cooperation. You may not be satisfied with your results if the assignments are not completed as directed.

How long are the sessions?

The comprehensive evaluation will take approximately 60 minutes. After that, every therapy session will be 25-30 minutes long, and we will meet at 1-4 week intervals. At every session we do skills assessments, we will learn new exercises, and plan for your next session. It is important to always have your supplies accessible for upcoming sessions in order to get the most out of our time together.

What information will I get from a comprehensive evaluation?

The comprehensive evaluation is your time to ask questions. At this time we will discuss whether or not your concerns can be addressed with myofunctional therapy. This is also a good opportunity to meet each other and decide if we are a good fit.

Is therapy covered by insurance?

Myofunctional therapy is not usually a service that is covered by insurance, and we are not in-network with any insurance companies. However, we are able to provide you with a superbill after each session of therapy if you would like to attempt reimbursement.

What happens after therapy is over?

The results of treatment are based 50% on exercise, and 50% on awareness. Therapy will give you the skills to recognize when something is wrong, so awareness is key! Some of you may need to revisit some of the exercises that are taught in the beginning of therapy to refresh your mind.

Where does therapy take place?

All sessions are done via Telehealth or in our office depending on your preference.

Are there any discounts?

Yes, discounts for family therapy (2 or more), and payment plans are available.

What is the refund policy?

Once therapy has started there is no refund offered. This is due to extensive planning and prep work completed on behalf of the client. However, before therapy has started you will be refunded 2/3 of the total amount paid. The cost for prep, planning, shipping, and myo kit assembly is non-refundable.

How come I’ve never heard of myofunctional therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is still considered a specialty field as an alternative treatment, and is frequently used in conjunction to speech therapy, functional dentistry, orthodontics, and craniosacral therapy to name a few. Unfortunately, many healthcare providers that practice strictly conventional medicine know very little of this type of therapy. It has actually been around in the U.S. since 1906, however there wasn’t as much research to support it as there is today.
